I know we said awhile back we were going to raise the level cap, but we had a number of upcoming things also related to regard and I wanted to make sure I really had it all thought through before we announced anything. These are our current plans for moving forward with regard, and while none of these changes have been made yet, I’m giving everyone the official “heads up” this is what is coming soon. (Read more)
It turns out, raising the level cap of 25 just isn’t going to cut it by itself. We drastically underestimated the number of players, the number of roos, and every one's desire to accumulate points by an order of magnitude. Most players leveled up so quickly, it rapidly become meaningless. The current level 25 capped out at a mere 134,999 regard. The new cap will be at level 40 with the top end being ~6.18 million regard. This amount is projected and may change, I’m running more statistics before I decide for certain. As before, if you have more regard than that, that’s ok, but your level (and associated breeding benefits) will be maxed out at level 40.
When this is ready and goes into place, everyones new level will be recalculated and adjusted according to the new scale. The important thing to remember here is that no ones regard is being changed by this process, only the amounts required to reach a particular level. At the end of the day, all that really matters is your position relative to other players, and since everyones level is being adjusted, your overall placement will not be changing. I will add a small bump to the affects of regard on the breeding bonus, so effectively while you’re level may have dropped, you will have roughly the same advantage as you did before.
Orlex and the Nocturnals will have their own regard pool. You will effectively have two levels, one for Diurnals and one for Nocturnals. Breeding your existing roos (Diurnal) will work with your existing regard. Breeding nocturnals will use your nocturnal regard. The Nocturnals are going to be a fresh start with all players on an equal footing. This will hopefully encourage new players to jump in without feeling they are many months behind everyone else. Doing anything with a nocturnal roo, petting, releasing, grabbing its treasures will all count towards your Orlex regard.
There will be two fellowship leader boards, the existing one for Vashara and a new one for Orlex. Each will be ranked by the total accumulation of regard points for that oracle. If you change fellowships, both your regard pools will be moved to the new fellowship. Since the level adjustments aren’t modifying any ones regard, the new levels will have no impact on fellowship rankings.
Hybrids reflect a roo's heritage, that is, whether it had mixed parents, but each hybrid roo itself will either be a diurnal or nocturnal species and treated accordingly. Hybrid breeding (when available) will use the lower amount between your Vashara regard and your Orlex regard for breeding bonuses.
As I mentioned in the last Q&A, but I’ll add here for the people who missed it. There will be either a new HUD for Orlex, or a means to switch your HUD back and forth between two modes. Either way, you can only have one HUD on at once, and it won’t matter which HUD you’re wearing, it will work with all roos, regardless of what type they are. Also, all homes will work with all roos.
