The Messengers Are Returning

Catherine's picture

The trembling of the Earth grew still. A quiet fell, unsettling, like the dawn after a violent storm. The Second Great War Imzareen had ended. The surviving Men, now too few in numbers, had retreated back to their homelands. The battlegrounds upon which battles were fought was now scarred and burning- it would for years after.

Vashara hovered above the singed soil. The Light Oracle, whose fate had been to deliver the Meeroo to Mankind as a Gift from the Gods remained silent and alone. It was here, upon these fields and hundreds like it where the Ancients were lost. Meeroos whose loyalty bound them to their owners, and they followed them blindly into battle. The Meeroos had never know of War before, and yet the Monolith Meeroos were saddled and ridden into a sea of bloodshed. The winged Star Reach Meeroos carrying their owners to safety were shot down from the skies. The horned Wooltusk Meeroos were placed before Armies, and upon death, their horns were severed and used as weaponry against opposing factions.

And now they are all gone. These great and immortal Meeroos known as the Ancients had been destroyed by the very hands that once embraced them. Sacrificed as instruments of War. Betrayed by their devotion.

"Not one is left" Vashara whispered with evident sorrow. An Oracle is not an emotional being; Instead, an Oracle is an entity of wisdom. Pure is their nature; Truth their intention. Logic and reason is their purpose. A great Oracle does not weep. Yet, she did. One foot touched the Earth, followed by the other. In the smoking fields she stood amidst the devastating aftermath and she experienced for the first time regret. How she wished she could have intervened, but an Oracle is not allowed intervention. An Oracle observes. Meddling in the affairs of the Ether-Plains below her own is forbidden. One may not take a life; one may not save a life.

As she bowed her head she saw four leaves. One still full of life, bright green. Another one, slightly faded, younger perhaps. Beside it sat a brown leaf, folded at the edges. It's curled tip faced another, which had been half burned, yet white with ash.

She took the four leaves into her hand. Though the leaves had been severed from their Mother Trees, there was life in them, and she could feel it. She took a soft breath, held her palm upwards and blew them into the air. They did not fall, yet instead, suspended themselves before her.

"I seek a Watcher." she said. "I bid you four my Messengers. From the four corners of this plain you will observe, and when danger appears to the Meeroo kind you shall manifest and say what you have seen."

With a wave of her hand she cast the white leaf to the North; "You are Sula, Watcher of the North." The leaf sparkled and shot toward the hazy sky. Traveling at an unimaginable speed toward the far reaches of Northern Earth. Mid-air, it froze and shattered into a million crystalline pieces and showered the grown below in a shimmering snowfall.

She wove her hand around the bright green leaf. "You are Troo, Watcher of the South." Upon her final word, the leaf danced and was whisked away on an invisible wind. As it gained momentum it grew and took on a nourishing glow. Spears of yellow light emanated from it's porous surface and bathed the land below in warmth.

"You are Myrr, Watcher of the East." Off it flew toward the ocean, whose cresting waves, gifting it with their life giving water, reached like arms from below to carry it to it's destination on the other side. Upon arrival, it took to the air and spun itself into massive clouds, which rained down upon the soils below.

Vashara turned her attention toward the last of the four leaves. "You are Azra. Watcher of the West." The leaf danced on the breezes and vanished. Spiral through the stratosphere, it folded into itself and small, feathered seedlings appeared from it's skin. Upon arrival, it collided with the land blow, and burrowed deep into the soil where instantly it broke through the surface once again, unfolding into an ornate tree two hundred feet tall, and from it's branches fell more of its kind until a great forest appeared.

Vashara stood sturdy but alone. The Ancient Meeroos, the first of their kind, were lost. From where she stood, she rose Seven great stones from the earth in a circle around her as a monument to what she would call, forevermore, the Legendaries.

The Messengers are now returning, in their Meeroo form. Azra, Troo, Myrr and Sula will be arriving at the store next week.

Obviously there is a reason these four unique "nature" Meeroos have returned. They must certainly bring with them a warning.

These Meeroos are special limited edition creatures called the Dryad Species. The do not pass their genetics BUT can be born with unique traits.

They will be available from a vendor which, upon payment, will deliver one of the four Dryads to you randomly. One is much rarer than others, while another is more common.

FAQ:

1. The Meeroo Vendor will require 300 Linden to deliver a random Meeroo. You are not guaranteed any specific one of the four.

2. They will indeed be transferable.

3. They can be turned into a Meepet.
