RFL is an amazing charity that we've tried to support every chance we could since we launched Meeroos. We are very proud to tell you, yesterday they gave us an award for being the 2012 #1 business supporter! Of course, it's not really for us, its for all the wonderful Meeroo caregivers who bought things at our RFL events!
I'm not sure exactly how they do their accounting since their year ends in July and not on the calendar year, so I'm not sure if this includes the 2011 Winter event or not, and they didn't tell us what our total was.
However, we've kept a rough ongoing estimate and so far for every RFL event we've been in since launch, we're guessing around 3 million lindens total! Wow, that's incredible you guys! Give yourself a pat on the back for that one.
In case you didn't know, we feel very strongly that if you're going to do a charity, you should do it right. We always put all our RFL vendors to pay 100% to the charity and not keep any for ourselves.
Also we occasionally get questions on why we do costumes (paint sets) instead of limited edition Meeroos. Well this is in two parts, one because a lot of the costumes are silly and don't fit into the lore (you know we're sticklers about our lore!!) and the second is so we can sell them for charities and be able to know all the money truly goes to the charity. A special edition pet might have all the cost of the pet go to the charity, but then as a breedable, the pet eats food and the money from that food is not going to the charity. So the point of a costume is that it goes on an existing pet the owner would have been feeding all along anyways. Make sense? I hope so!
Anyways, if you want to stop by and see your award, it is out on display at the Roo sim, inside the Meeroo Preservation Society. Feel free to stop by and marvel at any time.
Finally, I realize you're all dying to hear an update on the Nocturnals, and yes, I will hopefully be making another post on that very issue later tonight!
