ANSWER: Hey Graves!

This is a really good question that I'm sure we'll see more of because the lottery was rightfully a concern of many of our players. I wish I had a better excuse to offer regarding the launch lottery than "It was a unexpected form of gameplay." Truth is, we lacked foresight and that the game could be played that way was the furthest thing from our expectations, regrettably. The lottery compromised a lot of faith players had in us, discouraged many players from continuing onward thinking that progress was hopeless and we have to redeem ourselves from that. Restoring a fair playing field has been my number one goal since the Lottery issues, and I'm going to try to leverage the expansion to do just that.

The expansion chests will not be a lottery - that's not to suggest that everyone will get the same things mind you, that wouldn't be any fun! But rarer coats and species - of both nocturnals and future genetic updates of diurnals - will only be achieved through breeding.

The expansion starters should be considered exactly that. Starters. Although they contain unique cocktails of genetics and will lead down different revelation paths as people breed them, the nocturnals that appear from starter chests will not be influenced by a players level or regard amount.
