Daily Change in Player Accounts

Player growth is an important factor: both for the general health of the game, and for the stability of the Secondary Markets. While existing players present some demand for example stock from the Secondary Markets, new players provide the greatest demand: especially for the more common stock.

The data for these graphs was captured at Midnight SLT.

The daily change is simply the difference from the previous day.

The Mothership Player Account Creation functions are relatively unreliable. An estimated 5 to 10 percent of all account creation transactions fail resulting in a Player ID Number being created but the resulting account being unusable. No adjustment was made for this systemic error.

A serious error was noted on 2011-07-31 which resulted in 1646 Player ID Numbers being created within a few minutes; none of those accounts are usable. The Total Number has been adjusted downward to eliminate the effect upon the Daily Change graph.

Note that only an estimated 10 to 15 percent of all Player Accounts should be considered "active". During data capture it was noted than an extremely large proportion of accounts show no births, no releases, and zero regard.

While player population is important, from the point of view of the game, in general, player retention is far more important. Unfortunately, there is no good way to determine retention rates from the available data. The estimated "active" rate of 10 to 15 percent is based upon the assumption that the "average" player has 24 Breeding Meeroos.
