let me start by saying I do not want to appear knowing all about meeroos. But.. I think I do know some things, and will write it down!Its a sort of Q&A thing
1; I bought a starterpack, and got an Ursine! Is that rare?
-- first; the word "rare"is a bit difficoult..what is rare. People often want to see we use "common"and "uncommon"
Let me say for now that common is; all traits that are normal, plus Pine Winecoat, Gael Ursine and Gael Fawn.This is what you mostly will find in startpacks, with maybe a sierra or an upright tail. No, wont go in depth on this further, we can create an other topic for that. So. Answer to the question: no. Ursine is not rare.
2; How am i going to pair them up? By coat? personality?
-- I never saw any links (for now) between personality and breeding result, so lets forget that. By coat, sure, is an option, although personally I would not want to make a Fawn too strong. Cause the more you breed these identicals together, the most likelyer it will be it will pop up in the future. So. My advice; try to make pairs of different coats!
3; My friend got a koi from a fawn+a red gael. I have those too! So I will have a koi in 5 days?
-- Sorry to dissapoint you. It is true that some combinations of coats can give a certain outcome, but its always depending on the genes your meeroos carry. Yours might carry completely different things.
4; Allright, then I will buy the koi, and will have koi babies
-- again a dissapointment. The chance that your koi will give a koi nest when breeded with an other (non koi related) meeroo, is low. lets say, 20%.
5; So what kind of partner does my Koi need then?
-- An other koi! With meeroos, in 95% of all cases, breeding identical traits together, gives the same trait back. Same for coats. But there is more good news. An OS (OffSpring) will also work! Even if its the grandchild of the koi.
6; So now I finally have a koi-guaranteeded breeding pair; a koi+ Koi OS?
-- maybe. I have pairs, even "just"2 OS together, that give me in this case Kois every time. But in most cases, its 1 out of 2 every nest.
7; JAY I got a highland from 2 fawns! bUT.. the nest after that was a Pine again. What happened?
-- See above. In this case, you are lucky you had the 2 "right"meeroos together, who both had Highland somewhere in their background. But; just as wityh offsprings, they mostly not always give you this result. Sometimes a few nests will pass before it happens again. Sometimes, they will never do again! But in most cases, again, its one out of 2 nests.
8; My neigbour gave me his pair of Amber throwing meeroos. But; 4 nests further, no Amber? Did I sang the wrong song for them?
-- no. Most likely your neighbour has much higher regards then you. Better give him back the meeroos, and let him give the amber nest to you!
9: allright. I paired my starers as you said, got a nice meeroo with short ears, and thats it. Now what?
-- keep swapping pairs. What I do, is I let them breed aprox. 3 times, then I pick up all the females, and rezz them back in reversed order, to ensure all males have new partners.
10; Do I need to keep the nests that are "no good"to breed on with, later?
-- opinions vary. Personally, I dont look at the nr of generations a meeroo has. If I see where most rares come from, its definitly not a 6 or 7th generation meeroo. So.. I wouldnt keep them. What I did, was keep "better"nests (so, you suddenly got a hidden trait from your starter), and when you have enough, release the starters, and start over again with your "upgraded"nests.
11; I bought a long maned meeroo, and breeded it with a long mane OS. But what I got, was a fluff neck and chest. Cute! But where are the long manes? cut off??
-- now we are entering the hyarchy area of the meeroos. besides the fact the background of your meeroos are important, the place in the hierarchy is that also.
Let me give the hyarchies as how I think they are on coats, ears, hair and tail.
From low to high:Coats
Gael Coats->Fawn->Ursine->Red->Caledonia->Highland->Loch
Pine Coats->Winecoat->Autumn->Sierra->Amber->Cinder->Snowpaw
Masked Coats->Koi->Emperor->Azure->Kabuki->Sakura->Geisha
Nile Coats->xxxx->Painted->Jubilee->West.Desert->Dune ?
Savana Coats->xxx->xxxx->Zulu->Terracotta->???->???
Hairs:Normal-> fluff-> long manes
Tails:Normal->short tail->very short tail/curled tail/->bushy tail
Ears: Normal-> short upright->Notched/button->??
So. lets say, you breed a Highland with a Sierra. Highland is higher then sierra. You might get an Amber then from this.
Or, breed an Azure with a Koi. Wouldnt surprise me if you get an Emperor. NOTE I asume then that the mensioned coats are NOT appearing in the background of your meeroo. Like, if you breed that Azure with a koi, and the Azure has a Koi mum also, chance is most likely you will get a Koi, and now and then an Emperor.
Same for the hairs; I breeded a long mane with a Button eared OS, and got an upright ear chest anf fluff.
At the end I would always try, in case you are searching for new traits/coats or want best result, to breed with "high"as possible.
12; I am getting only females this week!
-- Yep. And then you'll see it will be males the week after
13; I have 2 great meeroos, an amber coat and a double short meeroo. when I breed them, I only get an upright fawn!
-- what I do in this case, is breed e.g. 2 ambers (if you have them) with 2 dble shorts, and breed the outcome of those 2 pairs. Or breedan amber upright with an shorttailed-something, same for the other, and breed those babies together:) its all in the mix!
