When I first started with Meeroos, I scoured these forums, the legend, the blog posts, anything I could get my hands on. I loved coming to the forums with my coffee every morning and seeing what new tidbits I could learn. The highlight was all the eye genetic threads. I felt like I was finally maybe getting a handle on the breeding part.
What is disappointing is, due to the company being attacked by cyber-terrorists, the response from the "loud minority", that is, those of you who post here all the time, has been childish and entitled. I'm not saying everyone, but the complaints, the "gimme gimme" attitude that made its way into most threads just ruined coming here for me. I find myself hovering over a topic, wondering if it's worth it to even open, because I know what'll come out of it.
As I read Catherine's post, I was sad. Until I read that there will continue to be a FAQ and genetics and now a trading post. I don't care about the secondary market, I don't care about getting to a sim to buy food, and I support whatever measures MS has to take to protect their company from hackers.
I DO care about new players feeling like this is a fun thing to start doing. Something fun to pass the time, to challenge brain cells, to maybe find new friends doing. The inworld chat is just horrible, and unhelpful. My fellowship seems to be on at odd hours. So I am pretty much on my own here. Luckily this game CAN be played solo, if I had to depend on others, I would have quit long ago.
It's sad that this forum will close, it was a nice place to squee with people who GET IT, about new discoveries...new trials...successes and failures.
Perhaps it would be worth starting over, with some sticky FAQs and a team of moderators with explicit posting guidelines. It's sure been proven that without a written set of rules, the mob deteriorates into playground behaviour.
Now I'm taking my roos and going home. I won't tell my mom on you though. I still love breeding them, and I look forward to the fun things that have been hinted at.
MS has a duty, to provide a good product, and to support that product. Which they do. They've been very good at answering support tickets, fighting bugs and exploits etc.
They do NOT have a duty to maintain this forum. To me, this has been a nice extra, but not an entitlement. It's like when I let my kids stay up late. I tell them they're on "borrowed time". It's not theirs, its mine, and I'll take it away when I feel like it. (if they're brats I send them to bed). We're being sent to bed.
Was fun while it lasted.
Now back to my roobabies.
