Not for or against. No point in that because we know it's comming. Not a flame war or a debate just ideas. Where can we find the common ground between the two camps? What is fair to everyone if you have 1 meeroo or 100, those who want it, those who don't, those who can afford it, those who can't.
The main issue is with a single payment petter that runs 24/7 is that it gives an unfair advantage to the big breeders which is something MS gives the impression they want to avoid. As well as eliminating ANY reason for having regard in the first place. They want the little guy to suceed just as much as the big ones and still they want us to earn it.
In my eyes, regard is like food for the meeroos that right now we don't have to pay for, we provide it ourselves. It's the sunshine in which they grow.
If you're going to automate then you have essentially put a monetary value on the work I do, each loving stroke or reluctant cuddle.
That monetary value or effort needs to be the same for each point of regard earned if I have 1 Meeroo or 100 Meeroos. And yes regard for, 100 Meeroos should cost or require more effort than for 1 Meeroo. It's not to penalize the big breeders but to keep it as fair as possible.
We ALL pay the same for food and prims for each individual Meeroo. The big breeders claim they are being penalized for having so many - but a 24/7 copy auto-petter doesn't penalize them. It penalizes anyone who has LESS than they do. They got one heck of a deal from it.
Look at the numbers - if you spend $1K on a petter to pet all your meeroos then to see why MS will (hopefully) not give us a straight up 24/7 Auto-petter that you can drop once and walk away:
10(Roos)x10(regard)x24(hours)= earns 2400 regard daily.
20(Roos)X10(regard)X24(hours)= earns 4800 regard daily.
100(Roos)X10(regard)X24(hours)= earns 24,000 regard daily.
The cost be it lindens or labor associcated with each point of regard needs to be the same if you have 1 or 100. You just can't accomplish that with a straight up 24/7 petter.
So going forth - constructive ideas only please - no flames/taunts/jabs etc. :
> Scooby put forth an idea that runs off "juice" from saved up from manual labor.
> Someone else mentioned a "button" that pets every roo in a certian radius but is manually active each time.
> I first brought up a treat that works on a single meeroo for a limited duration.
However:
> For me the most obvious and viable solution (to me at least) is probably the simplest and easiest to employ and both camps will dislike it equally - (see I'm all about the fairness for all)
Water Bowls - If you are going to employ auto petting then treat the regard as an optional food. There are only so many charges and when they run out you need to get more.
For it works for the big breeders by petting them all. The small ones because they pay the same amount per roo as the big one, just like we already do for food.
For the ones that only want the occsaionall help, they can put a bowl out when they go to bed/work and pick it up when they come back online.
For the ones that don't want one all the time they can think of it an optional tool for when you need a break.
And MS can think of it as a supplimental income source for when they take a financial hit when they finally get around to giving us that growable food they've been taunting us with :P
But at the end of the day - it's still about being equally fair to someone who has 1 or 1000 Meeroos. Win, win for all including MS.
More IDEAS are most welcome. Constructive comments but please no flames, jabs or taunts. Lets try find that middle ground we all can accept because it's comming wether we want it or not.
