Anomalous Genetics on Planet 314159-26.3
Planet 314159-26.3 is found in the star charts under the listing Sol/3, sometimes named Gaea or, to most of it inhabitants, simply called "Earth".
On first examination the inhabitants of this planet were found to have a simple bi-lateral symmetry. The planet was classified as "Primordial" and re-scheduled for standard re-evaluation after another 1,000 millennium.
Follow-up evaluations showed the planet was slowly developing two main genetic classes (called, by the inhabitants, "Plants" and "Animals") and thus re-classified as "Primitive". The major distinguishing factor among these classed was the growing tendency toward 5-point symmetry in the "Animal" class. Throughout all life-forms, however, is a common thread: all use primitive Base-4 encoding in their genetic structure.
The most-recent re-examination of planet 314159-26.3 shows the sudden, and apparently quite recent, introduction of a new species of "Animal" called, by the residents, "Meeroo". This species shows great promise. While is still shows the same 5-point symmetry common to all "Animals" on the planet, it appears to be using Base-5 encoding in much of its genetic structure.
It is the recommendation of the Surveyor that Planet 314159-26.3 be reclassified as "Developing" and the standard Genetics Evaluation Team be immediately dispatched to determine if this is, in fact, an advancement in the genetic structure of the planet, or represents an unintentional contamination of the planet necessitating planetary sterilization and re-seeding under standard genetics protocols.
