Being the careful person I am, I've been watching this forum for a couple of weeks debating whether or not I should get some of these adorable creatures (they are the best looking breedable out there as I see it right now in terms of quality and cute factor).
Anywho, I'm rather discouraged. The game part I have no idea what to do because I haven't read any information, but I suppose I would over time understand what to do as others seem to grasp what they are doing quite well. The secondary sales aspect of it though, I'm not going to lie. I don't put money into Second Life, I earn it and invest it and try to make a reasonable return. I'm not rich by all means but I will spend money on maybe a small starter pack and play away with my little guys and try to breed them. Of course I'm hoping to breed out nicer coats and then resell some of them to pay for food and shelter costs (like we do with other breedables which I do right now).
Now here is the thing, what I've read so far on the board regarding getting a Meero that is marketable is that you have to either spend thousands of Linden to 'win the lottery' in a starter pack, or, have a biology degree in genetics because this isn't 'other breedables', which, of course a monkey could breed (meaning its that easy to figure out).
So If I buy a pack with two Meeros. I might not get two compatible Roos, I might not even get two opposite sex Roos? If I just breed those two together and maybe buy another one or trade, I have to follow 'real life' genetic rules that no one really understands unless they do a lot of research on the net - and even then, it seems like this whole storyline is complicated and we need to 'discover' it so no one really knows what they are doing. Plus all that with having to pet them and release, find treasures (I have no idea what this is I just see people referencing it but it sounds kinda like fun).
For someone who doesn't have a lot of linden, isn't going to pay for linden, and will only keep a small amount because I hear food is really expensive, would you recommend to that person that they should get into this game for anything other than just having cute pets that will probably never have anything that you can recoup your losses with so you will just have to keep paying and paying for upkeep?
Maybe that sounds cold, yeah I know they should be a reward just keeping them. But I don't want to lose all my money and end up broke and regretful.
And I'm not interested in making tens of thousands of linden, just 600 a week for my rent and whatever it costs for food and other things you might need for the little guys.
