Posted in a thread but I thought everyone could see it better this way :)

Once again my two cents I'm tossing in. Why? Because I can, same reason anyone posts in here. :D

It was already stated, with the amount of meeroos actively or inactively on the grid that mutations will happen. This is at it's core a genetics simulation. Yes it has its limitations to accuracy based on the medium to which it is being brought to us on. With that said, it has been explained a NUMBER of times by other Players and by the Malevay Team Members themselves.

Catherine:
This is normal.

And there are no "Starter coats" All genetics are included in the Origin Meeroos, Dawnara and Levio Meeroo.

The reason you are seeing a unique or rare come from a starter is due to the sheer volume of these starter births. The genetics mutation probability is improved since dawnara and levio meeroos have had 300,000 babies. The more our community begins to pass down generations and the more volume we see coming from the community as a whole, rather than the two Origin Meeroo, the more rares we will see appear from players. Don't be discouraged, the surface hasn't even been scratched on discoveries!

That said, I'd like to discourage anyone from going and buying a starter kit who expects these results. This Nile is 1 in 300,000. You'd have better luck breeding your own and developing your breeding line than getting one from a starter.

An exert from Tiger's blog post:
"I'm not going to lay out for you here how it all works, but I'm going to give you a framework to build from, because many players are coming in with preconcieved notions on how breedable genetics are "supposed" to work, and when they don't, they storm the forums and blogosphere to tell us how broken they are. Well, they aren't broken, they are just using mechanisms you haven't discovered or understand yet. For example, I'm sure you have all noticed by now, if you breed a Flare/Clear/Dinural father with a Glacier/Clear/Dinural mother, you pretty much always get a baby with Dusty eyes. Foul, you might cry! But what's going on here is that you assumed there is a "Clear" trait or piece of DNA and if both parents have it, by gosh, the baby should too! Well, welcome to real genetics. Not all traits work as both parents have X so baby should have X."

And a bit of my own rant: (yes I'm totally citing myself)
At a certain point the species will begin to change granted yes there are no natural stresses to force evolutionary adaptations BUT there are still changes that occur and as the population continues to increase, we can pretend that the creatures are moving to different areas and adapting to the new environments which would of course force a change. Basically: More Meeroos MORE traits/characteristics. It has nothing to do with people cheating you or being "unfair" it's simple evolution just on a digital level.

And now the coup de grâce:
Taken from Wikipedia under the article Mendelian Inheritance-
MENDEL'S LAW-

Mendel stated that each individual has two factors for each trait, one from each parent. The two factors may or may not contain the same information. If the two factors are identical, the individual is called homozygous for the trait. If the two factors have different information, the individual is called heterozygous. The alternative forms of a factor are called alleles. The genotype of an individual is made up of the many alleles it possesses. An individual's physical appearance, or phenotype, is determined by its alleles as well as by its environment. An individual possesses two alleles for each trait; one allele is given by the female parent and the other by the male parent. They are passed on when an individual matures and produces gametes: egg and sperm. When gametes form, the paired alleles separate randomly so that each gamete receives a copy of one of the two alleles. The presence of an allele doesn't promise that the trait will be expressed in the individual that possesses it. In heterozygous individuals the only allele that is expressed is the dominant. The recessive allele is present but its expression is hidden.

Mendel summarized his findings in two laws; the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment.

I'll save the rest of the page space and let those interested do the rest of the (what I think should be required) reading on their own.

We the players are the CAUSE of the the more exotic and uncommon (note the lack of the term "rare") coats and traits being found in store bought packs because no one is actually breeding to achieve anything new. People will buy a Second Gen and try to breed it and throw a tantrum when they do not get desired results. Pedigrees were not created with just second and third generation babies. And they will not be created in a genetic simulation that way either. When you breed and isolate traits then you may expect to see them occur more consistently in the community but again as long as people continue to treat this like a lottery that is all this is going to be, and the community (those of whom would rather buy than breed) is at fault for making the play environment/scenario undesirable. It's really very clear, and has been put plainly in black and white for people to see. I do understand though that as long as people are not satisfied with the answer/solution given them they will continue to find fault. So be it. I know my one very small opinion does not amount to much against the droves of people that comment and view this forum but I am positively SICK of seeing the negative comments all because people think something based off natural occurrence is not "fair". Let me point out neither is it "fair" to be afflicted with a terminal illness because "you're a really nice person" nor is it "fair" for children to be born with disabilities and complications. But these are things that happen. It is the nature of the beast. I don't mean to strike any cords with anyone that is ill or has ill children but really. Look in the real world at nature and please tell me what is "fair" by the definition that the average human has in mind? Off topic some what and I apologize.

Genetic Simulation. Based off of a natural occurrence that let's face it. Is not guaranteed. "Darn I really wanted a boy" are you going to send the baby girl back? "Darn wish she had blue eyes" Going to pawn the child off because it isn't how you wanted it to be? No I'm not getting all animal/child rights activist but the way people react to something based on uncontrollable circumstances is...ridiculous. Breed, breed, breed, breed, breed, and also breed. You want more traits in the community? Guess what? Breed! Want to stop seeing all new discoveries come from the store bought packs? Guess what? Breed! Quitcherbitchin and stop buying lotto tickets. You CANNOT point the finger at the company when their product was never meant to be treated as a gamble. Forums, customer service, in world groups, player-made blogs dedicated to helping and informing. This is meant to be a large group effort not a lucky scratch off for the few willing to blow the money on it. Flick the little "ON" switch to your brains and lets make this work instead of complaining that it doesn't!.
