There needs to be somewhere to actually talk about the genetics, they do exist, breeding isn't a lottery. Buying starter packs is.
Breeding feels like a lottery at the moment because many of us are still playing with Meeroo that are are best a couple generations away from the great unwashed every-meeroo couple. The gene pool is very very murky at the bottom.
It is also very easy to breed mutts. Mutts are just that, odd bod genetic soup.
So, Here are my tips so far based on my own findings, post yours, the only way we crack this is by sharing. If you want magical rare trait to sell for millions of L, go play the lottery. If you want jealously guarded secrets, it doesn't work that way. There is a system at work, we just can't see most of it .. YET

2nd Generation Meeroo can contain ANYTHING. Breed them and see if you get lucky.
Have 2 pools of Meeroo. Your breeding program - deliberately partnered meeroo picked and matched together based on traits. Your muttpile - a junk pile of meeroo you dont care about.
Stumps - Your muttpile doesn't matter, just pile them on.
Your breeding program - Don't just own 1 stump. Don't put 8 on one stump. Matched couples ONLY. Use fellowship setting to keep couple separate. Breed A & B, C & D.. NEVER A & B & C, B & C.=
Pick a couple, we shall call them A & B. Breed them deliberately, do not just toss them in the mis and see what happens.
Not getting a result from Meeroo A & B, and then trying different partners only helps to keep the pool muddy. Breed the same couple together over and over and over. at least 4 babies. Then decide if that partnership needs to be adjusted.
Don't release nests. Toss them on your muttpile, let them spawn and then release. Its 250 regard now VS 500-1500 regard in a week for only L$ 50.
