Since it seems to come up soooo much and everyone is ranting and boo-hooing about "It's not fair new players are getting rares".
Let me start of by saying I absolutely hate the word "rare" right now if it is not in reference to how I want a steak.
After a bit of observation and believe me it did not take much to come to this conclusion. I can easily see that the traits that currently have people raving are indeed coming from starters. Why is this? Pay attention to the nest numbers! My first nests were in the 28k range with the next set of nests I bought to be in the 53k range. When I buy my nests I will only buy one or two meeroos at a time from the packs in the main store. The first nest that my meeroos created was 97k..that was 5 DAYS after public release which is about the time I recall hearing everyone drooling over the ursine (which I still have not birthed on my own tyvm *sadface*). By time I had my second set of nests the numbers were at 140k that is approx. 10 days after release. I do have a few breeding pairs which gave me my third and fourth nests 1-2 days after the second where the numbers jumped to 170k-175k and my most recent nests numbering at 194k-197k at those were just born last night/early this morning. IF you have actually read the posts put up by Tiger on the genetic cycles (I'd include a link if I could find it. I will place it in an edit when I do) Or even really think on how the genetics of anything works. At a certain point the species will begin to change granted yes there are no natural stresses to force evolutionary adaptations BUT there are still changes that occur and as the population continues to increase, we can pretend that the creatures are moving to different areas and adapting to the new environments which would of course force a change. Basically: More Meeroos MORE traits/characteristics. It has nothing to do with people cheating you or being "unfair" it's simple evolution just on a digital level. If you want special meeroos BREED several generations in instead of trying to buy your way to good traits because odds are they are so shallow in the gene pool they will not pass down for a while. Breed and isolate the traits you want until it becomes more dominant in the creatures, no you will not end up with the "perfect specimen" every time BUT you stand a far better chance than someone who wants to toss hundreds of dollars into the fire to say "hey gais look wut I got!"
