is the result of mating a pair of meerus completely based on random or how high is the influence of parental attributes?

Can someone from the team, do a clear statement?

If its 100% random, which attributes a breeded Meeroo has, its useless to buy expensive meeroos with special traits.

Will the parental influence grow with generations?

Or does everything result in mass-breeding and luck.

I understand that we should discover new traits, furs etc. but for breeding, but this is a basic rule of the "game" the players should know.
