Fair warning this may get long. Granted most folks have seen my posts elsewhere and know I'm long winded, lol. I just wanted to warn ya :)
This is something that's typically asked of, well, pretty much all breedable creators. Lots of people are wondering and I think it's a good idea to know where a creator stands(and to know the opinions of their customers on this topic, too-which is *really important, imo). It's a very interesting topic and it usually sparks a very interesting discussion. It's a discussion I think all creators of products like this, *need to have.
This would be above and beyond items we'd expect to see in a creator's store-starter packs, boosts(if applicable, they aren't here, but just using it as an example), interactive accessories that only the creator would be able to make/sell, limited edition/specials, etc...
A lot of creators, in this particular "industry" as it were, tend to shy away from the secondary market as much as possible. I find this to be a GOOD thing. It means their customers, who also create products for *other customers, won't have to compete with the actual company. Which, at times, can seem a little unfair to some people(and I understand this sentiment completely). Of course we'd have to compete with other creators, but that's pretty much a given. I have seen a couple companies that also sell decor, accessories, textures, habitats and whatnot. From my own perspective, and also from listening to other customers' opinions I have found that most people, don't like this. We're talking about things like displays, habitats, special textures(signage and such), "toys"(usually not interactive but sometimes they are, if an API exists) and things like this. All things other creators can do to not only boost their own income(of course), but also enhance the experience for other owners of that breedable. I have often found that the creators who leave the secondary market alone-lack of better phrase here-have far more creators willing to make products that enhance the experience for other buyers. But the companies who ALSO partake(making displays/habitats and such) tend to have a much smaller customer base of third party(technically it's second party, not third, but whatever, lol) creators. I don't want to give examples as I hate comparing one company to another like that. So hopefully that came out as clear as it sounds in my head.
So exactly what IS your take.. Meeroos, on this subject. I have heard since, at least December that you will not partake in the secondary market at all. But I haven't seen that put in writing anywhere on the site(and frankly the way folks are, it really ought to be, if for nothing else, peace of mind). I also haven't seen it explained exactly what your limitations are, with involvement. I'm sorry if this comes across as demanding or something. I hope it doesn't, because it's surely not meant to. I just want to understand your stance, as I'm sure others might like to as well.
And for others(creators, and non creators alike, of course) what is YOUR take? What would you prefer a creator do? Take part in the secondary market(and if so, to what degree?), or not partake at all and leave it open for other creators.
