Here's a thought that just popped into my head that I think actually fits with the philosophy of the game.

It's be cool if Meeroos could have sexual orientation as a trait.

Bisexual meeroos obviously could mate with either gender.
Homosexuals only with the same gender.

Same gender matings would result in gaining Regard .. perhaps a bit MORE than heterosexual matings who would also get the nest but obviously no nest for same-sex pairs.

Why I think this fits with the game is that it goes with the idea that Meeroos aren't JUST breedables, there's more invovled than popping out babies.
