Manual please..

I would like to see this done, preferably sooner rather than later. Unimportant compared to other work being done? Perhaps. Important in it's own right, you bet your butt it is.

No this isn't an MS bash or something, lol, just a suggestion.I'm not trying to nag, or be a pain, or whatever else you might want to say. I'm merely putting an idea that's existed for a very long time, back in the forefront where it ought to be, with all of the other "little things" that may need attention. Sometimes the little things can make a world of difference. You've already seen what a little bit of chatter from you can do-even if it doesn't please everyone. It is enough to show intent, and intent is important-don't think I need to explain that one.

Tonight's chat-ok portions of it, lol-is/was a prime example of exactly why the manual needs to be more customer friendly-in every which way possible. This wasn't the first time, it won't be the last, that people have had questions about the manual and customers are there answering as best as they can because handing them the manual will make them even more lost. We love to help, I promise you that. But that doesn't mean we, they, whatever...don't need assistance in that arena.

I know, it's out at roo(at least I think it still is, correct?). But not everyone knows this. It's not information you've put here on the site for people to know. I've seen quite a few people come into chat and ask where to find it on the site, because they can't. It's just sort of expected that if you have a site, all important info is there too. Not everyone wanders the store, so they likely won't see the manual there. In fact most people that I take there, or tell about the store, don't wander it at all(even if told they should, lol). They get what they need and they leave. This is typical consumer behavior, just as much as wandering about is for other consumers. You really should cater to both types, if you intend to reach your full audience. It'll take very little effort, really. Even less time if delegated properly.

My proposal...
A-Have someone look over your manual, figure out what it's missing and then update it. Please make it current, put important info that might be lacking where it belongs. Personally I would poll your customers and find out what they think is missing(they will prove to be valuable beyond words). You've said yourselves it's outdated and missing things. Now's the perfect time to fix that. I bet you've got staff willing to do this, since you won't take any of us up on the offers we've had extended for a year now ;)
B-Put the manual on this site, somewhere. Make it a file people can download, or even just a page to be clicked(both would be nice, though, options are usually good).
C-This goes along with the manual..but...Update your FAQ please. I can think of other ideas that might help broaden it a bit, and probably answer more actual FAQ. For example you could put a "Where do I find your manual" Q and the answer...put the link to the manual you've now added to the site as well as the slurl to the store. There you go, you've now helped new folks who, like many, will turn to the FAQ for a quick skim through.
You have your EULA, as well as other policies listed in your FAQ via link. So adding the manual to that page shouldn't prove to be very problematic.

I realize updating your manual will make it longer. People are less likely to read long notecards. But at least you'll be able to say "well, we told you, we gave you the information, it's yours to do what you will". Not that you'd ever do that, or say it in that sort of manner. But, we all know that covering your bases is very important. You can't expect your consumers to do the best they can, if you don't give them all of the info.

You could even make this a community project. Open a discussion here on the forums. Get ideas from the very people who would like to use your manuals. I know lots of us help out other roo owners, especially new ones. I've come across all kinds of notecards and helpful tips and hints that I hand to others, or use to help others anyway. Your customers really do know your product pretty well and can probably point out some of the things you might not think are important for a manual. It's so much easier to see what's wrong when you're not on the inside looking out. Your manual used to be in a lot of new roo owner kits and such. Most I come across now, have since removed it. It's just not as effective as it could, and should be.

That was longer than I had intended, and I actually do apologize for that one. I'd just like to see some of these more minor(to some) things get streamlined as well. I'm also rather confident that your community would be so valuable when it comes to stuff like this.
