On the regard system, a new view

I was one of the people who believed that unlocking traits would be achieved through the regard system and was looking forward to that. But even then I was wondering what would happen down the road. I prebought my meeroos so I am getting on the ground floor of the program and will hopefully be able to keep up with it without a problem. But even then, I was wondering about people who come into meeroos later. I joined horses about a month or so after they went live, and I always felt that I was playing catch up to everyone else. I was worried about new people coming into meeroos. If new traits are only available through a high regard, how would someone who starts meeroos three months from now ever be able to compete with people who had been doing it from day 1 (or before day 1 if you preordered)? I think that keeping the traits accessible to everyone no matter your level will not only keep big and small breeders going but will continually bring in new players to help grow the market.

But if that is the case, having any breeding benefits blocked or accessed by level will create an imbalance in breeding that "only these people have the best meeroos because they are the highest level." I don't know. What does everyone else think? I think at this point I'm really done with the open beta and am anxious to get to the real thing and see how it all plays out.
