Genetics

A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

I'm gonna start some threads and see what comes of them. if anyone gets/sees any of these new things and is willing to post parents and gens numbers it might help all of us alot as far as where to go with our breeding. We might be able to spot some trends. It might be easiest to post as roo button starter or roo fluffy tail 2nd gen from these parents rather than just a link with a nest id #. This is more for gathering some information rather than posting theories at this point while they are still relatively hard to find. We can use another thread for dissecting it maybe.

EYES - RBGE

Time to move this to the genetics section

Ok, even if you dont undertsand they whys and hows at least print this out, or write it down for when you are looking for trends in your meeroo.

SL colors, if any of you texture a prim, have 3 values Red Blue and Green, these are the three basic light colors. All other colors are made from them. So, in the game, they threw in a forth, lets call it E, for eclipse.

so these can be combined in several ways and just so happen to appear in the game as eye colors.

R - flare
G - monsoon
B - capri

lets just see what combos we get from them

Coats!!!

I'd like to see coats discussed and get peoples feedback so I'm gonna leave this general to start and see where this leads.

Hi all, well this will be my first post on here. So Hi All*waves*

Well i wanted to share my experimental! I think we all do experiment one way or another with those little cute meeroos! Finally i found something fun to do on SL. :)

Excerpted from the Summary Page

Committee on Galactic Genetics
Report 7789434-332
Anomalous Genetics on Planet 314159-26.3

Planet 314159-26.3 is found in the star charts under the listing Sol/3, sometimes named Gaea or, to most of it inhabitants, simply called "Earth".

On first examination the inhabitants of this planet were found to have a simple bi-lateral symmetry. The planet was classified as "Primordial" and re-scheduled for standard re-evaluation after another 1,000 millennium.

Line Breeding

I've had some luck with line breeding, but I'm in the beginning stages. I'm wondering if anyone else has any results from this technique that they would care to share.

if anyone is experimenting and tried something that didn't come out just the way you thought it would, if you'd like to tell, please do!

think of it as a time saver to help the newer people out that are new to the breeding of meeroos. im sure they would be happy for all the advice and comments we can give.

please, keep the drama for rp.. :)

Once i have finished level one of my pit breeding, if i have anything to add that didnt turn out the way i expect, i will be contributing my info as well.

Maximum Size

Some of this you'll read and say, "Well, DUH! Of course ... blah blah" But it's always best to make sure those "of course" assumptions are true. Sometimes they are not; and sometimes they are only partially true.

---

If we look at the Visible Maximum Size over a large population, we notice we have lots of mid-sized and only a few very large or very small. This means Maximum Size is almost certainly a combination of two or more values and is a trait we can breed for.

I wonder is there any point in my breeding and doing genetics research and calculations to get rare and new traits in Meeroos.

The reason is I am STILL hearing from many other breeders they have dumped all their Meeroos as they maintain rare/new traits are more common and easier to get in starter packs as opposed to getting them from breeding. I find this virtually impossible to believe but they are adamant it is the case.
