All my nests are female or just about. Am I doing something wrong.. ?

At this point, we don't really know how the Regard system works. What is clear, however, is that it has a MAJOR effect upon your breeding programs.

So, let's start with what we do know:

A) If regard is too low, your nests won't show a trait. The parents may show it and, were it not for regard, some or all of their offspring would show it. But, since regard is too low, while they might still carry it, they won't show it.

In this, our search for the 'key' to unlocking rare/uncommon/whatchamacallit coats, I'm a believer in the coats being carried recessively, the gene needed to be inherited from both parents. I could be wrong, of course, but that's the direction I'm leaning in right now.

To illustrate this, I'd like to explain how a Fellow of mine became a successful breeder of Kois and Emperors.

Has anyone been successful in passing traits into new coats? I know it's possible to pass traits when it's two of the same breeding or with one of them having it as a reccessive.

However I really haven't seen any other instances where they do pass. So I'd like to know how much luck people have in passing the traits into other coats.

What is the highest generation you are currently breeding? i.e gen 3, gen 4, gen 5, gen 6 ...

In spirit with the threads that are like this here is my Caledonian with clear capri eyes:

Father is a sierra with capri clear eyes
Mother is a winecoat with capri clear eyes

Funny enough none of this was planned. My male sierra was in season with no ladies around so I checked the stalls I had rented for any females that might be in season. I found a clear eye one that I was selling and even better luck she had the same clear eyes.

Put those two together and BAM! Caledonian pops out.

I am trying by breeding the Very short Tail w/a Short Tail.
It did not happen this time, off spring was a Short Tail.
My theory is three fold on this because:
1. The Short Tail is older and has possibly more regard and that matters?
2. The Short Tail digs up gold Treasures?
3. This combo will not make a Curly Tail.

Now with that said, what if it does make a curly tail and that recipe of breeding is 100% correct. Does it matter if 1&2 points are in play here?
