A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.
An Investment Banker was at the pier of a small coastal Indian village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna.
The Investment Banker complimented the Fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked, “How long does it take to catch them?” The Fisherman replied: “Only a little while.”

Last night a couple (wine and fawn) that heretofore had produced nothing spectacular, had parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and gr gr grandparents who were all lovely plebeian producers as well, and hadn't been nuked simply because they are my regard collectors and I am lazy, coughed up a Caledonian st notched ear nest. After I finished cleaning off my monitor, I realized that this was the third nest of the day that had followed similar blink blink wtf lines.

I had a big clean out, need prim space and so gave away or released a lot of o/s I had been working with with little results ,I just happened to put a Painted o/s and a Koi o/s on a stump together waiting to decide if I should release them or try them with different partners....good thing I waited.

Last week another o/s that I'd tried with a few different partners hit it off and gave me this after a good friend gave me my first Nile and I had nothing else to pair it with.

I was just curious if anyone had any theories on hints or clues that a line might contain certain traits/coats.
Say for example, you're getting a lot of curly tails, could that also possibly mean you have a good chance of canine head in the line, as both are decidedly canine traits?
Who knows, maybe great, great, great, great, great, grand daddy was a poodle. XD
I am by no means an advanced breeder yet, but I like trying to figure out of there are obvious clues that can hint at hidden genes in a family line.

I have a great line of very short tails and another great line of kois and emperors. I'm just starting a line of chest fluffs.
Ideally I'd like to get the very short tails and chest fluffs on the kois and emperors. Obviously I need to breed them together but was wondering if anyone would like to share any secrets that might help?
For example, would I have a better chance if the female has the coat and the male has the trait or vice versa? Is there a great chance if personalities or eyes are an exact match?

I have 2 Sula's that I had coaxed at the exact same time and while the male was in season rise the female had gone into season fall...I wake up to expect a new nest and what I get is a 2 DAY WAITING PERIOD ON THE FEMALE? After spending 10K on them I'm not a happy camper this morning and may just have Roo Stew for lunch!
