Pros and Cons of breeding techniques

scooby mode's picture

Since we know some breeding strategies some of us use, now lets talk about the pros and cons of those strategies.

Lets start with the Gen breeding... How Gen breeding can be good or bad when trying to get a certain trait out, which the ultimate outcome is to backbreed instead.

I am figuring something out, just a thought ABOUT generations and all......

Generations have their pros and cons.

For example, if you want a trait to pass, breeding it with a high gen could be bad because you are mixing all the traits and coats that have came from past generations, so that just adds more and makes your chances grow less on passing the trait that you want.

However, it is a good thing to breed a trait you want with a high gen also because although it's a high gen, it has a greater chance of carrying the gene you want to match with the gene you got because it has so much genes that has been added to the family, so it could work both ways good and bad, but we know.... Backbreeding is the best to get the trait back out.

So, what are Pros and Cons of Backbreeding? and Pit Breeding? and Line Breeding? and Scooby Breeding?
