A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.
I have nests where one roo is a 5th gen on one parent and 3rd on another, how do you determine which to go by when determining the generation of that particular nest?
Will appreciate any help.

After some research and some mining of this forum I have uncovered that if the parents of a child with ursine coat are fawn or wine they must have some sort of G value eye color
Also I have found out and this is where I get stuck, the size of the off spring = Parents Avg + .875x where x can be any where between -16 to +16 but i have not uncovered what causes x..
These results come from a horde of about 100 meeroos, and i am just throwing out my findings, have others noticed this? or am I way off?

We hear the term "Pure" alot all over the place. It's a phrase coming from horses. I'm wondering has anyone breed a particular "pure" trait a few generations down past it's "pure" parents and kept it "pure"?
Basically what I'm asking is. I remember reading some where about discovering this rare "vien" in the meeroos genetics. Like a koi and that you have to breed that out and strengthen it and strengthen it.

I have a basic understanding, I believe, of how eye color passes from parent to child. But I had a ponderance about the likelihood of clear eyes appearing in the following manner.
I'll use my youngest meeroo pair as my example.
Female: Kibbles
ID: 888810
Eyes: Cobalt/Diurnal/Dusty
Male: Bits
ID: 865416
Eyes: Glacier/Diurnal/Dusty
They have had two nests together.
Nest A
ID: 975547
Eyes: Cobalt/Diurnal/Dusty
Nest B
ID: 1061722
Eyes: Indigo/Diurnal/Clear

Meeroo Genetics
Part 1. The basics
Meeroo Genetics are based upon Mendelian Genetics. Before we can dive into the differences, let's start with the basics. Mendel proposed two laws of genetics. For this, I'll copy from Wikipedia:

Law of Segregation

So I have a few meeroos and so far I'm at level 4 or 5 I think. I have 2 ursine shorttails 1 clear eyes and a baby clear eyes. Most are winecoats and only 2 are not. I have no idea about proper breeding or howw to do it. I read several breeding guides but I don't understand clearly if I should line breed the ursines or mix them withh the winecoats . The winecoatts are higher regard than than the ursine. Help anyone?

Ok this is only an idea, but do you think it is plausable. In nature, natural selection leads to benifical mutations or traits being propagated into the population. Quite a few animals breed with their mates based on displays, dominance, plumage, quality of nest.
